I used to dread winter too but I have come to love many things about it, mostly the excuse to be cosy at home. I think as soon as I realised that the living world needs to rest and that it is an important part of growth that I really felt as though I understood it. Beautiful, evocative poetry, words and images, thank you for sharing with us xx
Winter is the season where jazz really comes into its own ! What I love most about this season is how home becomes centermost in our lives— our little haven amid the cold !
Aww I love that Florence! Winter is a time I find difficult, but that sounds like such a great perspective change. Thank you 🥰 I hope you enjoy the prompts!
Thank you Janelle! Hope you enjoy the prompts 🥰 That’s such a beautiful part of winter! I try to look to the skies when I’m finding winter challenging.
“She dreams in clouds of emerald and silk,”. I love this line Jenna. It is just exquisite. I’ve not tried jazz and poetry together and I love both, so this is now on my to do list for the rest of winter. Thank you for sharing your words and your playlist and for creating this beautiful space for us to share with each other and to connect.
Birds are how I keep connected to nature in winter. I’m growing to love the humble Jack Daw. We have clusters of them gather on tops of trees and I can see and hear them clearly from my balcony on second floor. They are so connected. The gather at dusk and just chat chat chat and hop about visiting each other on the branches. Their calling sound is like “jack jack.” Every evening it’s like they hunker down and get settled for the night - at least that’s how it appears - until all of a sudden there’s a huge chorus of “jack jack jack jack jack” and off they go until the next day. The sound is just charming.
Aww Beverley, thank you so so much! I’m so glad you loved this piece. I hope you enjoy the poetry and jazz! It’s so soothing.
I love that way of connecting with nature in winter! I’ll have to keep an eye out for them. I usually see robins the most. That sounds magical and humbling all at once to hear them so frequently. Thank you for sharing!

crackles of vinyls and a wine bottle half empty.
Do I really belong here, or was I meant for a different era?
1920s New York, perhaps…"
Wow, just love this Jenna! I have always felt like I belong in another time too (back in the olden days!) and this short poem sums it up for me! 🤍 Love the playlist you shared too, I spy a few of my favourite songs in it! 🎶
I do love the Winter time, but I do not like the cold, wet rain which we sadly get a lot of here in the UK and in France! 😂 I love summer rain, but winter rain is always just so cold... 🥶 But, when the weather decides to have a snow day then that is my favourite thing about the Winter time! The glimmering white snow, untouched and fluffy or when it sparkles in the sunlight... just the best thing and it always puts a smile on my face! Happy December ❄️
Beautiful words! I love the moonbeams prompt so will contemplate that.
I love the cosiness of winter, an excuse to snuggle under blankets and hunker down. I have to say though I tend to enjoy this until about mid January and then get impatient for spring!!!! Xx
Suzu, this piece is incredible! I love the way you used the prompt 🤍 I adore ‘Whiskey whispers on the curl of my lips, a slur of desire as hot as her hips’.
Thank you so much for reading and taking part. I look forward to reading more of your work.

Thank you so much Lyndsay. That is such a beautiful way of seeing winter. I must admit, I really do love being home and being cosy xx

Ooh I love what you've evoked here.
My favourite thing about winter is the skies - the sunrises and sunsets

Awww thank you so much Isabella! 🥰🤍
It’s an old poem I wrote a while back, but I still feel it in my bones. So glad to hear it resonated. It seemed such a glamorous time!
Yes! Winter rain — as much as I love rain — can be unbearable at times! Especially if we have to be out and about it in. Snow days are so magical ❄️

I agree! I find I get impatient for spring too!xx
Whisky whispers
On the curl of my lips
A slur desire as hot as her hips
Longing for a land
I used to call Home
Longing for her body
That makes me feel Home.
.
Whisky whispers
On the curl of my lips
Reminiscences of his warmth embrace
A snuggle cozy place
Where I slept awake
Lost in his dark blue skies
Of a fully starry night.
.
Whisky whispers
Of tales gone long before dawn
Of my own Heart burning
Longing for love
Under the darkest of nights
Listening to the whispers
Of a wee dram of Bunnahabain.
.
Thank you so much for the prompt and gifting us that space. Enjoy the 12 days of wild love. I love it already !!!
